For those of you who missed my first posting. please check out my posting from two weeks ago displaying photos from the same WWII Marine pilot.  Walter A. Huff flew Dauntless SBD dive bombers during WWII with the VMSB-332.  In this series of slides Walter is on leave in Milwaukee, WI.  Note the PBR plant!

  1. Walter Huff was my uncle. This picture is actually Chicago – his home town, and not Milwaukee. It is near the South Water Street freight depot.

  2. Photos are definitely Chicago, matching signs and buildings to other pics of the era. I did some genealogy and web sleuthing based on the known facts (Walter Huff, USMC pilot, Chicago, approximate age) and came up with Walter Allen Huff, b. 1922 d. 2010. Walter was from Chicago and married Genevieve Bernhardt in 1945, so this is likely Walter and Genevieve.
